I would like to share something with you that I have been studying lately which I have been finding very useful, and I think will help you as well…
It’s called the The Personal MBA & it’s a book written by an Internet celebrity of sorts, Josh Kaufmann.
He became famous from his website www.personalmba.com, which is a resource he created to share all the best business knowledge he was consuming. This was his way of replacing an expensive MBA degree.
The book that is attached to this email is the product of several years of effort & study on his part, plus countless of interactions with his web community.
What I like about it is the broadness of the content. Here are the chapters:
Chapter 1 – WHY READ THIS BOOK?
Chapter 2 – VALUE CREATION
Chapter 3 – MARKETING
Chapter 4 – SALES
Chapter 5 – VALUE DELIVERY
Chapter 6 – FINANCE
Chapter 7 – THE HUMAN MIND
Chapter 8 – WORKING WITH YOURSELF
Chapter 9 – WORKING WITH OTHERS
Chapter 10 – UNDERSTANDING SYSTEMS
Chapter 11 – ANALYZING SYSTEMS
Chapter 12 – IMPROVING SYSTEMS
As you can see from the contents it’s a well rounded & comprehensive business–and life–course.
Some of you may be considering continuing your education with an MBA; this book might put you off that path. The first chapter mostly discusses the perils of MBA degrees: expensive loans, marginal chances of actually getting a decent job and slight pay increases. Of course it’s US focused but I guess the same principles apply across the world.
